A Statement Released by the NYSDOT

AMHERST, NY - The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) today announced that bridge inspection will occur on Interstate 290, in the Town of Amherst, Erie County.  As a result, on Saturday, December 8, Interstate 290, between Interstate 90 and Interstate 990, will be subject to intermittent lane closures in both directions beginning at 7:00 a.m. until noon.  At least one lane will remain open at all times.

This work is weather dependent and may be delayed in the event of inclement weather.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.  In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
