New Canonical Administrator Assigned to Mary Queen of Angels School

 

Most Reverend Richard Malone, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo, has appointed Father Jeffrey Nowak to the position of canonical administrator at Mary Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School in Cheektowaga. Father Nowak takes over for Msgr. Kevin O’Neill, who retired as canonical administrator following the 2014-15 school year.

Father Nowak was also recently appointed parochial vicar of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Niagara Falls, and continues to celebrate the Tridentine Latin Mass for the Diocese of Buffalo at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Cheektowaga. He previously served as parochial vicar at St. John Vianney parish in Orchard Park.

Drums Along the Waterfront Celebrates WNY Competitors

 

Eight of the top drum corps in the world — who hold 42 combined Drum Corps International World Championship titles — will be visiting Western New York early next month to compete in the annual Drums Along the Waterfront competition.

“This is marching music’s major leagues,” exclaimed Jack Gaylord Jr., president of Drums Along the Waterfront. “The work, the dedication, the talent, the passion … they have made it to the very top.”

Cheektowaga Native Rose Rustowicz Receives Prestigious Fulbright Award

 

Rose Rustowicz, a member of the Maryvale High School Class of 2011 and Rochester Institute of Technology Class of 2015, has been offered a Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant to Iceland in physical sciences. This announcement was recently made by the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Fewer than 2,000 students in the nation receive this prestigious award each year.

Berardi Immigration Law is pleased to announce that Gabriella Agostinelli has been promoted to the position of Associate Attorney.

Agostinelli joined Berardi Immigration Law as a Law Clerk in 2014. She received her Juris Doctor from the SUNY Buffalo Law School in 2014 and Bachelor’s Degrees in International Business and International Relations from Canisius College in 2011.

Mass Celebrates Msgr. Kevin O’Neill’s Dedication to Catholic Education

 

A Mass of celebration in honor of Msgr. Kevin O’Neill was held in Queen of Martyrs Church in Cheektowaga on May 28. After nine years of service, Msgr. O’Neill is retiring from his role of canonical administrator at Mary Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School at the end of the current school year.

Msgr. O’Neill, who was ordained in 1961, has dedicated much of his life to Catholic education. In January of this year, he received the Diocese of Buffalo’s Outstanding Achievement Award at the Celebration of Catholic Education gala held at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.

Catholic Charities of Buffalo Appoints Three to Leadership Positions

Catholic Charities of Buffalo has appointed three new members to its leadership team. Judette Dahleiden has been named Director of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) nutrition program, Beverly Eagan has been named Corporate Compliance Officer and Joseph Farrauto has been named Director of Human Resources.
      
Dennis Walczyk, Catholic Charities chief executive officer, said, “We are pleased to promote Beverly to her new position, and welcome Judette and Joe into two critical leadership roles. I look forward to the expertise, energy and passion all three will bring to their new and increased responsibilities.”
