Saturday April 2, 10am-Noon The American History Girls Club welcomes young girls into the History Museum to learn about the historic time periods of the American Girl dolls. Jion us in celebrating Julie and the year 1974. There will be arts & crafts, snacks, museum tours, and artifact scaevnger hunts all based on Julie. Girls do not need a doll to join. Gold Laced Coat event at Old Fort Niagara

The Friends of the Youngstown Free Library and Old Fort Niagara are collaborating on an exciting new series of programs for children, ages 8 to 12, and their families who are interested in learning about the history of our region. The four-part series will bring to life four characters from “The Gold-Laced Coat,” by Helen Fuller Orton, a classic 1934 novel for children that tells the story of young people at Fort Niagara during the French and Indian War. Each program will include an activity and craft related to the featured character. Each participating child will also receive a copy of “The Gold-Laced Coat.”

On Wednesday evenings, March 30 and April 6, 13 and 27, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Old Fort Niagara’s staff of talented storytellers and re-enactors will create living history in the Red Brick Gym, located at 240 Lockport Street (Rt. 93) in Youngstown.

Bookfair to Benefit Mary Queen of Angels School

A Barnes & Noble Bookfair supporting Mary Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School in Cheektowaga will be held April 13-17 at the Barnes & Noble Clarence store, located at 4401 Transit Road. 

Several events will also take place at the store on Wednesday, April 13, including a visit from Mary Queen of Angels teachers and Fr. Lou Klein, pastor of Queen of Martyrs Church, who will serve as special guest readers beginning at 6 p.m.

Pond Skimming at Holiday Valley

What would Spring at Holiday Valley be without the Pond Skimming Spring Party on March 26! Pond Skimming competition registration starts at 11:00 and the skimming starts at 1:00. Also enjoy the music, cookout and a Margarita bar!

Prizes will be awarded to all pondskimmers. The top prizes will be awarded for best outfit, best skimmer, best crash and best child (age 16 and under).

All the action takes place at Yodeler...bring your friends, your lawn chair, sunglasses and swimmies...and be there!
