The new Winter Market on Hertel, housed in The Pasta Peddler/Blackbird Sweets location at 1547 Hertel Ave. in Buffalo, continues from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20. The market runs every Saturday through early April, and several vendors will offer special Christmas savings this weekend!

Canadian Celtic Choir Plans Christmas Event in London

 

Nearby London, Ontario, will host the Canadian Celtic Choir for “An English Christmas” for two shows on Saturday, Dec. 20! Performances are scheduled for 2 and 7 p.m. in London’s Aeolian Hall, located at 795 Dundas St. E.

The Canadian Celtic Choir will perform under the direction of William W. Zadorsky, accompanied by Jean Willadsen and special emcee Paul Grambo. The choir features more than 50 voices and was founded in 1996 to sing and promote Celtic choral music and culture in Southwestern Ontario. The choir has performed at numerous summer festivals, black tie benefits, special celebrations and its own self-produced concerts.

Homeless Memorial and Candlelight Vigil Set for Dec. 21

 

A memorial service remembering Western New York’s homeless who have passed away during 2014 will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at the Lt. Colonel Matt Urban HOPE Center, 385 Paderewski Drive, Buffalo. Presented by the WNY Coalition for the Homeless, the event is purposefully scheduled on the first day of winter, the longest day of the year, to bring greater attention to the plight of the homeless.

The event, free and open to the public, will feature guest speakers, music by the Buffalo City Mission Choir, a performance by Harvey Brice and a candlelight vigil, followed by refreshments. Information about local resources for the homeless will also be available during the event.

Dalia’s Bridal, a new business offering couture wedding gowns available off the showroom floor at 40 to 70 percent off retail prices, is the latest business to open its doors along the Main Street shopping district in Snyder. Located at 4558 Main St., Dalia’s had a soft opening on Dec. 4 and will host a ribbon-cutting event at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, and a grand opening on Saturday, Dec. 13. Both events are open to the public.
