WIC Program Celebrates Expansion of Seton Professional Building Site with Open House April 14

Catholic Charities and Catholic Health System officials and staff, as well as partners and supporters, gathered this morning for an open house and reception to celebrate the recently completed renovations to expand its Women, Infants and Children (WIC) office inside the Seton Professional Building at Sisters of Charity Hospital, 2121 Main St., Suite 14, Buffalo.
      
The expansion nearly doubles the original size of the site, which has operated out of the Seton Professional Building since July 2009. The Catholic Health System provided funding, planning and design support for the renovations.

Annunciation Parish to Host Sacred Journeys Series

 

Sacred Journeys, a four-part series with conversations on spirituality, common bonds, forgiveness and ecumenical dialogue, will take place in Selbert Hall at Annunciation Church, 7580 Clinton St., Elma.

The series kicks off at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, with “Inclusive Spirituality” with Rev. Thomas Colgan, a professor at Canisius College. A relaxed evening of conversation, prayer and refreshments, Fr. Colgan will talk about interacting with people of faith traditions that are very different from the Christian experience.

Month-long Adventure at Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery Will Benefit Hospice Buffalo

 

A small art gallery in West Seneca has big plans throughout the month of May. Enjoy The Journey Art Gallery, located at 1168 Orchard Park Road, has events planned nearly every day of the month, with a portion of the proceeds from each event earmarked to benefit Hospice Buffalo.

Behind this massive endeavor are three dedicated artists: Gallery owner Paulette Krakowski, resident artist Heidi Zanelli, and member artist Lauren Fratantonio, all of West Seneca.

Former Colleagues Team Up to Create Story and Activity Book for Children

 

Three former colleagues who once worked together in Western New York media recently teamed up to create a story and activity book for children titled “Maggie’s Adventure: I’m Going Over Niagara Falls in a Barrel,” and have scheduled two events related to the release of the book.

Lyndsey D’Arcangelo, a freelance writer from Eden, developed the idea for the book, a fictional story starring her adventurous daughter Maggie, and wrote the copy. The book is interactive, encourages coloring and features several age-appropriate activities related to the book’s story.

Dog Ears to Host Series of Classes for Aspiring Screenwriters

 

Attention aspiring screenwriters! The industry is changing, the internet is the new norm for entertainment and the world needs content! If you have ever wanted to write for the large or small screen, you need to start here!

John Szablewski, a screenwriter and filmmaker from Buffalo, will be holding a screenwriting workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at Dog Ears Bookstore & Café, 688 Abbott Road, Buffalo. The cost of the event is $15.

Hull House Restoration Group Plans Mother's Day Tea

Members of the Hull Family Home and Farmstead restoration committee will hold a Mother's Day Tea on Saturday, May 9, in the group's Victorian tea house, 5962 Genesee St., Lancaster.

Seatings will be at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and the Hull House will be open for guest tours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will feature sandwiches and desserts served by volunteers in period clothing, and proceeds will benefit the circa-1810 Hull House restoration project.

Admission will be $20 per adult and $10 per child younger than 10.
