Recycling Totes Arriving Shortly in Amherst

Supervisor Dr. Barry Weinstein and Amherst Highway Superintendent Robert Anderson announced that the recycling totes will start being delivered on April 26th.  It will take approximately 5 weeks for totes to be delivered to all of the Town of Amherst residents.  Recycling totes will be delivered 6-7 days per week between the hours of 7 am and dusk.

There will be a slight delay in the delivery of the 95-gallon recycling totes.  Residents that have requested a 95-gallon tote will initially receive a 65-gallon tote and an swap will take place at a later date.

From the start of the roll-out there will be a 2 month grace period during which time residents may also use the blue recycling bins.  After that time residents can keep the recycling bins for their own internal recycling use.  However, after the grace period if a recycling bin is put out to the curb it will be picked up along with the recyclables.  A future press release will announce the cut-off date.

Amherst residents are asked to email randerson@amherst.ny.us or call 631-7119 if they have any further questions.
