Amherst Police Looking for Two Female Shoplifters

Amherst Police are looking for two female shoplifting suspects from a Transit Road department store.  On Friday May 4, 2012 around 9:30 pm the two female suspects who are pictured in the security video images, load up a shopping cart full of clothing, perfume and jewelry and exited the store without paying. 

Both female suspects left the store and got into a black Chevy Impala partial plate F--5046 and fled.

Tips from the Public Help Amherst Police Catch Two Who Stole from Store

Acting on tips from the public, Amherst Police detectives were able to identify both of the suspects shown in the security video which was posted on the APD Facebook page.

 Detectives arrested Lori A. Hasart, 30 and Katie M. Criswell 23 both from Lockport, NY.  Both were charged with Petit Larceny, a class A Misdemeanor.

Amherst Police Arrest Two for Prostitution

As the result of a continuing investigation by the Amherst Police Department into prostitution activity in the Town of Amherst the following individuals have been arrested:

  • Dionna Jackson, 19 year old female from Buffalo arrested on 04/24/12 and charged with Prostitution (Class B misdemeanor)
  • Caitlin Connelly, 27 year old female from Grand Island, arrested on 04/24/12 and charged with Prostitution (Class B misdemeanor) and Unlawful possession of Marihuana (Violation)

Amherst Police Looking for Suspects in Campus Dr. Apartment Burglary

Amherst Police are looking for two suspects in a daytime burglary of a Campus Dr apartment.  The suspects took a laptop computer and a 26" LCD television.

One suspect described a Hispanic male, 6'0" tall, slim build, the second also a Hispanic male 5'8" tall medium build.

The suspects were driving a Yellow four-door sedan, possibly a Ford Crown Victoria (which may have previously been a Taxi Cab)

Tips from the Public Lead to the Arrest in Theft of Eyeglasses

Acting on tips from the public, Amherst Police detectives were able to identify both of the suspects shown in the security video which was shown on the APD Facebook page and WGRZ Channel 2 News.

Detectives arrested RAQUEL HUNTER, 38 from Florida Street, Buffalo, NY on Second Degree Grand Larceny charges.  These charges stem from a theft of over $3,000 worth of prescription eyeglass frames from an Eggertsville doctor's office.

Detectives were also identify the male suspect shown in the video, and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.

Amherst Police Arrest Two Men With Counterfeit Coins

On 03/27/12 at approximately 1352 hrs Town of Amherst Police Department responded to a business on Wehrle Drive to investigate a report of a suspicious male who attempted to sell the manager a large gold and silver coin collection. The manager examined the coins and determined that the coins appeared to be counterfeit and he was suspicious of the attempted transaction.  The suspicious male then attempted to sell an amount of gold jewelry, but he decided not to sell the jewelry to the manager.  The suspicious male then exited the business with the coin collection along with the jewelry and left the area in a vehicle occupied by an additional male. The vehicle used on this occassion was a black 2012 Cadillac SRX with New Jersey license plates (rental vehicle).
