Muslim Public Affairs Council to Hold Inter-Faith 'Solidarity Walk' This Week

AMHERST, N.Y. -- The Muslim Public Affairs Council Western New York Chapter (MPAC-WNY) in partnership with the Islamic Society of the Niagara Frontier, North Presbyterian Church, Temple Beth Am and Westminster Presbyterian Church is sponsoring a one-mile, four-mile and a five-mile "solidarity walk" in conjunction with its fifth-annual Tent of Abraham event, this Thursday, August 26 at 6:30 p.m.

The Abraham’s Walk program was stimulated by the Abraham Path Initiative developed by the Global Negotiation Initiative at Harvard University. “Abraham Walks” are taking place in various U.S. and European cities. The Western New York five-mile walk will start at North Presbyterian Church located at 300 North Forest Road in Williamsville, include a stop at Temple Beth Am (where the four-mile walk begins) and Heim School (where the one-mile walk begins), and finishes at the Islamic Center (745 Heim Road, Amherst) where walkers will join the “Tent of Abraham” event with dinner.

Williamsville Comedy Benefit for Trees Leaves Locals Laughing

The 2nd Annual Leaves & Laughs comedy festival saw four seasoned comics bolt through a raucous rant of one liners to the delight of a nearly sold out Rob's Comedy Playhouse in Williamsville on Saturday.

Opening was club co-owner Rob Lederman who took shots at TV garden show host Sally Cunningham seated just a sapling's length away, "you make the auto advice guy sound interesting", ripped Lederman, citing her Sunday morning tube appearances.

Such was the mood of the evening with the microphone relay from Lederman to Dan Pordum to the eventual headliner Marc Sinodinos gathering steam and goading the well-lubricated gallery with quips on their occupations and orientations.
