More than a Drop in the Bucket: RBC Blue Water Project Provides $5,000 Grant to Buffalo Niagara Riverkeepers

RBC Wealth Management, a subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) with an office in Williamsville, presented Buffalo Niagara RIVERKEEPER with a $5,000 grant for its participation in the worldwide RBC Blue Water Project™.

Buffalo Niagara RIVERKEEPER was chosen as a RBC Blue Water Project™ grant recipient for its shared commitment to protect watersheds, especially in the Western New York region. RBC Wealth Management, as part of its dedication to protecting fresh water and the Western New York environment, first introduced the RBC Blue Water Project™ as a corporate partner in RIVERKEEPER’s Spring Shoreline Sweep this past April.

The RBC Blue Water Project™ is a wide-ranging, multi-year program to help foster a culture of water stewardship. Since lack of access to clean water is considered to be one of the major threats to human health and economic development around the world, RBC is working to create a "blue water future" of sustainable water resources worldwide. The first phase of the RBC Blue Water Project™ is a grant program of $50 million over 10 years.

“Our mission is to protect and restore the quality and quantity of water in the Buffalo Niagara region while connecting people to water,” said Kerri Bentkowski Li, director of citizen action programs for Buffalo Niagara RIVERKEEPER. “We could not accomplish our mission without the support of companies like RBC, which share in our beliefs about the value of protecting nature’s most precious resource.”
