Developer, Villa Maria Sue to Continue Kensington Village Plan

Chason Affinity Developers and Villa Maria College have filed a lawsuit against the New York State Division of Human Rights

Cheektowaga, N.Y. – Chason Affinity, developers of the innovative “Collegiate Village” student housing complex, and Villa Maria College, today filed a lawsuit against the New York State Division of Human Rights and its Commissioner Galen D. Kirkland in Erie County Supreme Court.

The developers and the College seek to set aside a 2008 agreement they believe is not valid, and clear the way for a $25 million effort to renovate and preserve up to 276 units of market rate housing, and provide affordable rents to families in the Kensington-Eggert neighborhood.

Millard Fillmore Gates Celebrates 50th Anniversary of First Successful Pacemaker Implantation

Physicians and leaders at Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of the world’s first successful pacemaker implantation.

Andrew Gage, MD, one of two surgeons responsible for the historic milestone, was honored for his medical achievement, which took place at the hospital in 1960.

Dr. Gage (now age 88), collaborated with another University at Buffalo surgeon, William Chardack, MD, as well as Wilson Greatbatch, who was a former associate professor of electrical engineering at UB.  Greatbatch then further developed the pacemaker battery, founding what today is internationally known as Greatbatch Inc.

Dr. Gage was given a plaque from Kaleida Health to commemorate his contributions as well as a proclamation from Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown designating it “Dr. Andrew Gage Day” in Buffalo.

How to Make Your Car Last Forever: Auto Q&A with Tom Torbjornsen

Dear Tom,

I own a ’98 Dodge Neon with 97,000 miles. A few days ago while driving, I noticed that the battery light was on and all the gauges were going crazy (up and down). This happens only when the vehicle is in motion. I tested the battery and it’s good. What’s causing the problem?
