WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WGRZ) -- With unemployment still at high levels, the Better Business Bureau warns people tempted by "Work-From-Home" offers to be wary, because the vast majority are scams.
The BBB received a complaint from a local woman who received an e-mail from a company called Galleo Group, which claimed to be headquartered in Williamsville. The company got the woman's e-mail address from a job-seeking Website.
The woman says she was eventually scammed out of $7,500. Galleo Group currently has a grade of "F" from the BBB.
2 On Your Side called Galleo's number, but it went straight to a voicemail. The company's Website is unavailable, and its physical address in Williamsville is fake.
"They come and they go really quickly," Ellen Tucker, director of the local Better Business Bureau, said. "As soon as they scam somebody, they shut down their doors, open under a new name."
